Beacon Parish Scheme (young adults)

Million Minutes (CSAN member charity) works with parishes that want to take their work with young people to a new level.

The charity is working with a small number of parishes to dedicate one million minutes to the young people in their locality. This equates to roughly two years where Million Minutes will walk with those in the parish to develop their youth ministry. There will be opportunities to meet other like minded parishes, undergo training, and opportunities to create bespoke approaches to improving parishes accompaniment of young people. Million Minutes will work with you and, where possible, with other partners such as your diocesan youth office.

Million Minutes offers parishes training and support to:

  • Identify and commit to a vision for youth ministry

  • Identify and engage others to join you on the journey

  • Understand the reality, gifts and needs of young people in your parish and local community

  • Discern your priorities

  • Develop pastoral plans to extend your mission to young people

Once your initial plans are formed Million Minutes will continue to accompany you as you begin to implement them (in collaboration with others):

  • Recruitment of volunteers, their initial training and on-going development

  •  Specific resources and training for your priorities

  • End of the phone advice and support

  • Regular face to face (online when necessary) coaching of volunteers as they embark on the project

  • Access to national and regional networks, youth focused retreats and conferences

  • Your own Parish Companion: As part of this Million Minutes will aim to link you to a ‘Parish Companion’ – experienced pastoral leaders who will be able to offer you periodic support, coaching and mentoring for your youth ministry plans.
