The Diocese wishes to appoint a Head of Caritas following the retirement of the current potholder.

Background and Purpose of the Role

The Head of Caritas Plymouth will play a pivotal role in advancing the Church’s ‘ministry of charity’ by leading social action initiatives that align with the Bishop’s vision. The role involves iplenetting strategic priorities in response to the evolving needs of the community, especially for people in vulnerable situations in our locall communities including children, those who are older, people who are homeless or those seeking asylum or refuge. This is a hands-on role and the person must have a delivery-focused attitude.

The role includes acting as the diocesan environmental lead, guiding ethical investment and advancing the Diocese’s carbon reduction goals.

  • Hands-on line management experience

  • Project mangagement
  • Expertise in Catholic faith, social action initiatives and Catholic Social Teaching
  • Proven charity management
  • A mature Christian faith – and a proven commitment to social justice
