Do you have what it takes to increase the range, impact and visibility of Catholic social action in the Diocese of Westminster?

Caritas Westminster is the social action agency of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster. We support the work of 2,100 volunteers in parishes and schools, running 600+ social action projects covering food provision, financial resilience, homelessness, work with migrants and refugees, and much more. Together, their projects benefit at least 21,000 people across the diocese every week.

You will need to be a persuasive advocate for Catholic social action, developing and disseminating Catholic social teaching resources, and working in partnership with both internal and external stakeholders to underpin local social action and Catholic formation. You will also need to be adept at using qualitative and quantitative evidence to secure voluntary income (in partnership with the Caritas fundraising team) and to engage with the 30 local authorities across the diocese to identify opportunities for joint working for the benefit of local communities.

The post requires effective working across over 200 parishes and schools, as well as liaising with multiple partner organisations, means that successful relationship building is at the heart of this role. You’ll love working in a fast-paced environment and will have excellent interpersonal and people management skills. An understanding of, and sympathy with, the social and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church including detailed knowledge of Catholic social teaching is essential.

Additionally, to be successful in this role, you will need excellent organisation skills, able to prioritise and deliver on time to a high quality, as well as innate income generation skills. A proven ability to lead, enthuse and performance manage a diverse and devoted team is important, and a recognised qualification in community development/volunteer management (or equivalent expertise by experience) is essential.

Caritas Westminster welcome applications from those with a Catholic faith, those of other faiths, or none. What they require above all else is that you respect their values to help others and support decent and dignified work for all without prejudice.
