Job Title: Development Worker

Hours: 35 hours per week, full time
Pay scale: £38,000 – £43,000 (dependent on experience)

Can you help to increase the range, impact and visibility of Catholic social action across the diocese? You could play a pivotal role in the Caritas Westminster team as a Development Worker.

The Diocese of Westminster is divided into four episcopal areas: North London, East London, West London and Hertfordshire. As Development Worker you will provide practical support for parishes, schools and partner organisations in your episcopal area, as well as providing technical advice to projects across the diocese in an agreed social action field of expertise (eg. refugee and migrant support, social isolation, financial resilience).

You will be the visible face of Caritas Westminster in your episcopal area, forming strong and enduring relationships with parish priests, volunteers and other partner representatives, working with them to maximise the number of people supported through Catholic social action. You will work closely with a number of different teams within Caritas, including;

  • The deans in your episcopal areas: to agree annual Deanery Social Action Plans
  • Other Caritas Development Workers: collaborating on projects and activities in their episcopal area related to your agreed area of expertise
  • Caritas Volunteer Service: to recruit, retain and coordinate activities of Caritas Parish Reps in your episcopal area and support them in the delivery of a programme of deanery-based Volunteer Management Support events
  • Caritas Food Programme: tackle food poverty in your episcopal area
  • Other Caritas Westminster services: promoting their work in your area
  • Other Catholic volunteer-based organisation: promoting their work, in particular the Saint Vincent de Paul Society
